Phone-Free Events Grow 567% Worldwide: What Can They Teach B2B Events?

Phone-free events are growing worldwide, highlighting the value of in-person experiences. Discover what this trend can teach B2B events about connection, interaction and the strategic use of technology.

The search for greater presence and connection shows how corporate events can create experiences that go beyond screens.

Going to an event, putting your phone away and simply being in the moment. This behavior is gaining momentum around the world. According to Eventbrite, phone-free events grew by 567% globally between 2024 and 2025, while attendance increased by 121%.

More than an entertainment trend, this movement raises an important question for those organizing B2B events: in an increasingly connected world, how can we make sure people are truly present?

Why are phone-free events growing?

Eventbrite’s research shows that 49% of respondents want live experiences that are less designed for social media and more authentic. In addition, among young adults, 79% consider spontaneity important at events.

The idea behind phone-free events is simple: reduce distractions to increase attention, interaction and the feeling of being present.

In this context, this shift can also be seen in corporate events.

What can B2B events learn from this?

The goal is not to eliminate phones from congresses, conventions or corporate meetings. After all, they are also important tools during an event.

However, the main lesson is not to rely on technology to create a great experience.

A B2B event needs to offer moments that make sense in person. For example, networking, discussions, workshops, culinary experiences and social spaces can encourage conversations that are difficult to recreate in the same way on a screen.

1. Create opportunities for interaction

Simply bringing people together in the same space is not enough. Therefore, it is important to create moments for participants to talk, exchange experiences and build connections.

2. Think beyond content

Presentations are important, but the experience also involves the environment, gastronomy, comfort, circulation and moments to pause. As a result, every element can contribute to making the event more engaging and meaningful.

3. Use technology with purpose

Apps, QR Codes and interactive resources can make the participant journey easier. In this sense, the key is to make technology complement the event rather than compete for attention with it.

Is the future of events more human?

The growth of phone-free events does not mean people want to abandon technology. On the contrary, it shows that, surrounded by so many screens, in-person experiences have gained even more value.

For Brazilian B2B events, there is an important question to consider: it is not enough to create a meeting that people can attend. Above all, it is necessary to create an experience they actually want to live.
